Sales Team Leader - Employee spotlight

What do you do on a daily basis?

As part of the microscope team, my role is to demonstrate the VHX-7000 digital microscope. I drive around my territory solving quality and inspection problems but also getting an insight into the latest in R&D.

How has your role changed since starting?

I’ve gained a lot more responsibility, from training new team members and setting sales strategies. My area has also increased, opening more opportunities for myself.

How did you learn the technical side of the role?

When I joined, I had 2 months of training however the main experience came by doing – as with most things. My main aim was to demonstrate to as many industries as I could to learn about all the industries I would be visiting.

How would you describe our working culture?

You get out what you put in at KEYENCE. If you follow the method everything else falls into place. At times, the job can be fast paced and challenging, however the reward is worth it.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

Meeting new people and seeing the latest R&D developments. Anyone who knows me knows I can be quite nosy at times, so if anything innovative is being done I want to be there!

Any advice to potential applicants

Make sure you like driving as most of your week will be driving to and from your area. Have perseverance, it won’t be easy to begin with, just keep at it and eventually it will become second nature.
